Benefit Director -- Oxbow School of Art and Artists’ Residency

The Benefit Director oversees the planning and execution of all major event fundraising efforts, including the Ox-Bow Summer and Winter Benefits, and reports to the Development Director. The individual in this role will work to create events, raise money, and expand Ox-Bow’s donor pool through new donor engagement and cultivation strategies. Events are a critical part of Ox-Bow’s fundraising pipeline and the individual in this position plays a key role in the long-term sustainability of the organization.

A successful candidate for this job will be comfortable in both the strategy and execution of event fundraising. Occasional travel between Ox-Bow’s campus in Saugatuck and our offices in Chicago will be required. Access to a reliable car is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute all aspects of Ox-Bow’s major fundraising events with direction and oversight from Development Director, including:
    • Summer Benefit on Ox-Bow’s Saugatuck Campus—500+ guests, outdoor
    • Winter Benefit in Chicago—250+ guests, venue TBD
    • Overnight Fall Fundraiser–60 guests at Ox-Bow
  • Create a comprehensive event calendar, including Committee and Marketing deadlines
  • Manage and direct Committees, and attendant monthly meetings, for Summer and Winter Benefits
  • Maintain active volunteer list and allocate their services effectively
  • Work alongside Development Director to ensure achievement of sponsorship and ticket sales goals
  • Facilitate connections between new donors acquired through events and the Development Director and Executive and Creative Director
  • Work directly with Marketing Department to design/send all necessary invitations, create press releases, update social media, and appropriate print/web ad placements
  • Oversee the production of in-event promotional materials, including videos, signage, etc.
  • Conduct all necessary art auctions with committee assistance
  • Manage and update mailing lists
  • Cultivate beneficial vendor relationships and act as their liaison to Ox-Bow
  • Oversee all necessary event follow-up, including tax letters, artwork delivery coordination, etc.

Time Commitment and Compensation

This is an hourly 2/3 time position. Hours vary depending on fundraising event cycle and annual calendar.
