Overview

Dow Gardens is seeking an intern for its History Department, which is responsible for managing the family archives as well as preservation and programs inside of Herbert and Grace’s 1899 home, The Pines. The intern will work under the leadership of the Historian and focus on cataloguing, researching, moving, and storing artifacts in the collection. The intern will also gain experience leading tours, working in the archive, and running programs. The intern will be expected to lead a presentation of their work to the Dow Gardens staff.

This is a 14-week, paid internship.

Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior in a four-year program, or currently enrolled in a graduate program, in history, public history, archaeology, anthropology, or related field
  • Applicants need to be comfortable working both collaboratively and independently
  • Comfortable working behind the scenes and speaking to the public in a tour or program setting
  • Physical Requirements Include: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and climb multiple sets of stairs
