Events and Venue Rental Sales Coordinator – Michigan Science Center

Job Summary

The Michigan Science Center (MiSci) is currently seeking a capable, responsible and dynamic individual to join our Events team. The ideal candidate will oversee and coordinate events to advance the Michigan Science Center’s mission to inspire and sustain the publics' interest in STEM through private and collaborative events at MiSci. This exciting and rewarding position will create a revenue stream by strategically placing MiSci at the forefront of venue consideration in Detroit.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Daily duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan, develop and identify new event rental targets to grow revenue
  • Planning, coordination and execution of multiple Michigan Science Center events each year
  • Strategize and support development, build solid support relationships and increase membership base
  • Manage and Field Rental event inquiries in a timely manner to capitalize on opportunities
  • Collaborate with Michigan Science Center team to support events' success. This includes cross-department collaboration with all departments
  • Creatively support current Michigan Science Center endeavors on exhibit launches, public programming and free day's for the community including large scale events.
  • Track budget, revenue and events dates and update projections regularly
  • Design materials to support events and clients
  • Maintain consistent and resourceful tracking of event sales, contracts, invoices, event details and staff support

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor degree preferred; Associates degree and event management experience considered
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in event management required or equivalent experience
  • Must be willing work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekends.
