L.A.B.S. Camp Instructor - Impression 5 Science Center (5/31/2019)

Full-Time/Temporary Position: 40 hours/week with some weekend hours

Salary: $10-12/hour

Anticipated Start Date: May 2019

Hiring Manager: Micaela Balzer, Director of Innovation & Learning

Position Description: Leads and delivers our L.A.B.S. camp program and supports opportunities in the main exploration area, delivers workshops, outreaches, and supports Think Tank operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitates the Play, Create, Challenge vision with guests in programs and operations.
  2. Delivers science curriculum in camp settings to children ages 3 to 14, that is hands-on, dynamic, and learner driven.
  3. Acts as an individual directly responsible for the care of children attending camp.
  4. Supports all operations of L.A.B.S. camps program including, but not limited to, before/after care, lunch, and outdoor play.
  5. Delivers science workshops to guests in varied group dynamics.
  6. Delivers programs to birthday parties, community outreaches, and inside the Think Tank youth maker space.
  7. Creates positive opportunities for guests that are science-focused and social.
  8. Maintains a high level of customer service while assisting guests on the exploration area and while delivering programs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and skills typically acquired through experience and coursework in informal education
  • with emphasis on education, science, and customer service.
  • Certified in CPR/First Aid preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow curriculum guides.
  • Skill using a computer with Windows software (word processing and spreadsheets).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in individual and group settings and work
  • with people of all ages.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple, overlapping tasks with a pleasant, guest-focused attitude.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities, including bending, crawling, sitting on the floor,
  • standing for extended periods, operating a computer, and operating a motor vehicle (must have a
  • valid driver’s license and suitable driving record).
