Membership and Development Manager -- Lakeshore Museum Center

This is a new part-time position planned for 30 hours per week at $18/hr. It is the ideal position for someone who loves working with people and connecting them to the many offerings of the Lakeshore Museum Center. The position offers growth potential for a motivated self-starter.

Organizational Overview: The Lakeshore Museum Center (LMC), a non-profit organization, located in Muskegon, Michigan, is a multi-site museum. The mission of the Lakeshore Museum Center is to preserve and interpret, through exhibits, education, and programs, the natural and cultural history of Muskegon County.

Position Overview: 

Membership/Donor Development and retention 

  • Recruit new members, nurture current members, and contact lapsed members
  • Track membership and donations with Past Perfect or other donor tracking software system
  • Coordinate “Giving Tuesday” and Year End Appeal 


  • Solicit for event underwriters/sponsors
  • Grant writing and management
  • Work with Executive Director on Donor Development 

Special Events

  • Coordinate Lumber Baron’s Ball or new annual event
  • Plan/organize Annual Meeting and Member-Only Events
  • Assist with special events as needed by Program Managers


  • Two-year degree in related field; Four-year degree preferred
  • Two years minimum experience in development field and with donor software like Past Perfect, Donor Central, or DonorView
  • Proven, strong organizational skills
  • Proven, excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency
  • Positive attitude and ability to work a flexible schedule when needed with some weekend and evening events
