Permission to Wonder:

The Visual Thinking Strategies

Wednesday, September 30
1:00-5:00

This half-day basic training will introduce you to the Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS). VTS is a learner-centered, research-based teaching method that has been proven to improve critical thinking, assist with language development, and engage problem-solving skills.  You will learn how the VTS can be used for exploring works of art, historical objects, written texts and documents.

You will have the opportunity to practice the skills you have learned in front of a work of art or historical object and receive coaching and feedback to strengthen your practice and understanding of VTS.  DIA staff will then lead a reflective group discussion that will help everyone understand how VTS can be used in a variety of disciplines.

Led by Sue Troia, Manager of Gallery Teaching and Senior Trainer, Visual Thinking Strategies, Detroit Institute of Arts.
