Pre-Conference Workshop: Nonprofit Board Certification
September 28, 1:00 - 5:00 pm
Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island
Led by Matthew Downey, Johnson Center for Philathropy

This workshop covers the basics of
nonprofit governance and board service.  Each participant who completes the four hour seminar program
will receive a Certificate of Nonprofit Board Leadership from the Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University.

Topics to be covered include:
  • Overview of Nonprofits Sector and Board Service
  • Ethics and Legal Responsibilities of Board Service
  • Ethics Exercise
  • Nonprofit Financial Management
  • Nonprofit Fundraising and the Board
  • Nonprofit Fundraising: Donor motivations and constituent groups 
Participants in this pre-conference workshop are eligible to receive the conference hotel rate and are invited to the Sunday evening conference cottage tour and Fort Mackinac reception.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made at least 10 days in advance of the workshop date to receive a refund.  All cancellations are subject to a $10 administrative fee.

Registration opens July 1 and is available through September 22.
