Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for the Michigan Museums Association (MMA).  MMA shares expertise and resources to promote standards and practices that make the Michigan museum community thrive. Our volunteers make that possible! All volunteers are expected to be MMA members.  

Conference Planning Teams Overview

The 2024 Conference will have three planning teams made up of MMA staff and volunteers. There will also be a conference logistics team formed in the summer. 

Each planning team will meet monthly January through May. Basecamp is used for communications and coordination of the team activities. 

Programs Team

  • Meets the second Monday of the month at 11 am
  • Responsible for concurrent sessions, Museum Cafe, workshops, and keynote support. 

Events Team

  • Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 10 am
  • Responsible for Conference Kick-off Coffee, two evening receptions, Member Community Meet-up, Trivia, and Wrappy hour.

Activities Team

  • Meets the last Monday of the month at 11 am
  • Responsible for tours, experiences, service project and other activities in the Kalamazoo area.  

Each team works best when it has a combination of local and state-wide members, as well as people from different types and sizes of museums.

Through May 2024

Commitment Needed:
One to two hours a month.
