The Michigan Museums Association participates in Museums Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. each year. This event is coordinated by the American Alliance of Museums and includes one day of training and one day of legislative visits. The event was held virtually in 2021 and 2022.
In addition to sending staff to the event, MMA provides a packet of support materials for each site visit. This packet includes data about the economic contributions of Michigan's museums, information about Michigan's museums participation in federal grant programs, and other relevant Michigan information.
MMA encourages all MMA members and Michigan museums to support Museums Advocacy Day by sending delegates, providing data and materials for the packet, or participating in a social media campaign during the event.
For more information about participating in Museums Advocacy Day, please contact the MMA office (313-334-7643 or Lisa Craig Brisson)
